A study reveals the list of the streets with highest rent around the world
Real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefieled has revealed the most expensive streets in the world. This ranking was built based on the price per square metre for commercial properties on the busiest and most popular streets across the planet.
Unsurprisingly, it is 5th Avenue in New York that turns out to be the most expensive street in the world, with a single square metre costing $21,889 per year. While the price seems colossal, it remains 15% cheaper than before the pandemic began in 2020. The study reveals that, by and large, the United States has shown the most resilience to falling rents in recent years.
Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui Street, which used to be number 1 in terms of rent, is now in second place at $15,578 per square metre per annum, 17% lower than two years ago. Similar trends can be observed in many other Asian countries.
Finally, to close out the podium, the famous and very chic Via Monte Napoleone in Milan came third in the ranking. With a rent of $11,424 per square metre per year, the biggest fashion houses and ready-to-wear luxury brands have their shops on this iconic street of the Italian city.
