Ireland has been named as the 14th richest country in the world according to a study by Global Finance Magazine.

Hard as it might be to be believe, with a GDP per capita of $48,786 (approximately €42,820) Ireland is considered richer than countries such as Canada, Australia and Germany on a list published on the Global Finance website this weekend.
The list, which you can see in full here, is based on the gross domestic product of the countries in question based on purchasing power parity per capita, with factors such as cost of living and inflation rates taken into account.
Not surprisingly, Qatar (GDP per capita of approximatelty €128,150) is deemed to be the richest country, followed by Luxembourg, Singapore and Brunei.

Norway and Switzerland are the only other European countries to feature in the top ten at numbers six and ten respectively, the United States comes in at number nine, while the United Kingdom ranked just outside the 25 richest countries at number 27.
