If you are a party animal, you'll be fine.... everyone gets wasted and pukes everywhere and clubbing and dancing is really really big at ucl. i hope this clarifies things...if you get here, you'll notice lots of spam cards being distributed/left in the chemistry LT regarding Vodpop which is some lame clubbing event.

Loads of opportunities and events to socialise and people are generally very friendly. Huge number of societies you can join to hang out with like minded people as well.

UCL is a well-known and top-ranking university in the world. All facilities, teaching and learning experience here meet all my expectations. Also, I have learnt so many cutting-edge theories and techniques from it and I really enjoy the process.

As a student, you are automatically a member of Students' Union UCL, and UCL's policy of keeping Wednesday afternoons free of teaching gives you the opportunity to take part in social and sporting activities.

The club is home to the world's stickiest dancefloor, covered in splatters of cheap jagerbombs and sheer amounts of sweat. Despite this, queues that are borderline dangerous they're so rowdy seem to congregate every week, so make sure you get there in plenty of time.

UCL is a friendly place generally speaking and as Ben said, you'll bump into people you know around Uni all the time, but people are often excited by living in such a large, diverse, interesting city that they often want to go off and explore other parts of it - something you probably wouldn't get if you attended a ...

UCL's acceptance rate is similar to that of Oxford University at around 15%. On the whole, courses are incredibly competitive and high grades go a long way in making your application stand out.

In this respect, King's has got you covered, with 94% students in full time employment or pursuing further study six months after graduating. UCL, meanwhile, lag behind with only 90.6%. Which, you know, isn't disastrous. But the numbers don't lie: on this category, King's is better.

Ask people, students, teachers - 9 out of 10 will say that UCL is a better university than St. Andrews. At my school (which sends around 25 people to Oxbridge annually), UCL is seen as 1st or 2nd choice for top students, whereas as far as I can tell, no alumnus has ever gone to St. Andrews.

Is it worth to study at UCL?

UCL has a great reputation for studying at all levels. Whilst my experiences are getting somewhat dated now the teaching and support I received as an undergraduate was superb. I also am now armed with a BSc from an institution that is respected around the world.

UCL has a history of academic excellence and is consistently ranked among the world's top universities, with many of our faculties leading their fields. We're renowned for our world-class research, global influence and impact across a broad range of subjects.

UCL has a community feel, but it's a very different one. It's nothing like an enclosed campus. It's like Central London is part of the university.

I'd say it's pretty easy to make friends as the ethos and atmosphere seemed really nice. Plus, everyone will be in the same position as you. They'll also be new and looking to make friends.

UCL, in itself, is an ample opportunity to meet people from all walks of life - no matter who you meet, almost everyone has a different background and different opinion. This isn't just interesting to hear, but it increases your own empathy by getting a deeper understanding of different circ*mstances.

16 specialist libraries with more than two million books and subscriptions to more than 35,000 journals. The UCL Centre for Languages and International Education (CLIE) which offers courses in 17 languages, some of which can be taken for credits towards degree programmes.

What should I know before going to UCL?

UCL is ranked 16th in the world and fourth in the UK behind Oxford, which came first, Cambridge, which jumped two places to second, and Imperial College, London, which was eighth.

UCL has a benchmark entry level of ABB at GCE A level and does not make offers of admission with any grades lower than B. 5.

UCL beats Imperial by eight positions in the academic reputation indicator; whereas Imperial comes out on top in the employer reputation indicator, ranking ninth to UCL's 13th. Both schools have a high faculty/student ratio, although Imperial places in 27th and UCL ranks 38th.

Where do Oxbridge rejects go?

Mostly, Oxbridge applicants will want to go to the best university possible for their subject, and if their application to Oxbridge falls through that will often send them to Durham/UCL (arts subjects), LSE (social sciences) or Imperial (science subjects). Other common ones are York, Edinburgh and Exeter.

Apply for accommodation at Passfield or Carr Saunders and your social life will be pretty typical of any other uni. It's not the most social university - of course it isn't - but it definitely can be social. Some people go out multiple times weekly, some never do. If you like going out you'll find the people that do.

Very challenging university! UCL has a lot to offer as a university; a very diverse and multicultural community, international groups and activities, interesting courses and modules, very resourceful libraries and equipment and a good campus life.

The LSE has just taken first place in a survey of UK universities as the place with the best nightlife – the first London one ever to do so.

The structure of LSE isn't exactly conducive to making friends. Which is a shame really given how there are so many great people here. I know it's said quite often but societies are definitely the easiest and quickest way of making good friends.

The academics at the London School of Economics were extremely challenging. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in the program to apply, but would caution that it is - from my experience - far more challenging and intense than most universities in America.
