Queen Máxima of the Netherlands looked elegant and casual as she cooed over babies in a children's hospital in Tanzania today.

The 51-year-old wore a £169 floral maxi dress by French brand Axelle and blue Carrie Forbes salon slide sandals costing £272 for a visit toCharlotte Hospital in Kilimanjaro where she greeted staff and patients.

Máxima met people who were part of the PharmAccess MomCare program, a non-profit that works to provide inclusive healthcare in Africa.

The royal gasped in faux shock as the young baby mimicked her expression, showcasing her warmth as she bonded with the infant

The program works to give pregnant women free prenatal information until they give birth.

The royal ditched her usual high-glamour look in favour of comfort - although she still looked effortlessly chic - as she stepped off the plane in Tanzania last night.

She grinned as she arrived in Kilimanjaro yesterday, and shook hands with local authority representatives who welcomed her.

The wife of King Willem-Alexander, who is known for her love of bright and colourful outfits and extravagant looks, appeared elegant as ever in a chic all-black ensemble.

Shhh Máxima! The baby put his hand on the royal's mouth as he sat on her lap and clutched at her water bottle in a sweet display of affection

She will be enjoying the short visit this week in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development.

Máxima donned a sophisticated blazer adorned with golden buttons and a brooch for the engagement.

The Dutch royal teamed the double-breasted jacket with cigarette trousers and classic leather boots.

She was effortlessly elegant as she swept her blonde hair back into a ponytail, opting for minimal make-up as she began the visit with appreciating traditional Maasai Dance.

Today the Queen carried out visits in the Kilimanjaro region, where she met with local farmers to discuss the importance of insurance cover against climate-caused crop damage.

Maxima got in touch with her motherly instinct as she played with a young baby sat on his mother's lap offering a piece of string for him to hold

She will also speak with representatives from ACRE Africa - which works to help with this risk.

Máxima was also scheduled to attend an engagement for an initiative focused around providing digital healthcare for pregnant women, titled the MomCare project, put in place by PharmAccess.

The royal's visit also included a trip to Dar Es Salaam - the East African nation's former capital - where she will talk to local market vendors about digital finance services.

She will also meet with President Samia Suluhu Hassan alongside other influential officials during her three-day trip.

Máxima too will speak with members of the Generation Equality Forum, in a meeting centred around providing equal opportunities for financial services access in Tanzania.

It comes following Máxima and her husband's recent trip to Sweden.

On her last day of the trip to the European nation last week, the royal and King Willem-Alexander took turns taking control of the vehicles when at the Volvo Trucks Experience in Gothenburg.

Touring the extensive collection of trucks in the centre, Máxima looked effortlessly stylish in a dark purple power trouser suit, which she paired with a hot pink dress shirt.
