What is the parent rating for the Avengers? ›

Marvel's Avengers is rated by PEGI at 16 and above, and by the ESRB at T for Teen.

The movie is aimed at adolescent and adult Marvel fans and is definitely not suitable for children. Parental guidance is strongly recommended for younger teenagers because of the many violent and disturbing scenes.

The Avengers contains intense action violence with numerous deaths, but there is minimal blood and gore. For example: Loki uses a power staff to fire bolts of energy, killing several people. He uses brute strength to throw people against walls and through the air.

There is mild bad language ('hell', 'damn', 'ass', 'son of a bitch', 'pissed off', 'bastards'). 'P*ssed off' is said. 'B*stards' is said.

Great movie for kids, there is violence all throughout the movie, but nobody dies. There is quite a bit of consumerism, and there isn't any swearing. Great for children.

According to Feige, the initial cuts of The Avengers kept coming back with an R-rating by the MPAA. This was because, when Coulson was stabbed, the blade would always be shown going from his back and out through his chest.

In addition to the violent scenes mentioned above, Avengers: Endgame has some scenes that could scare or disturb children aged 8-13 years. For example: A character deliberately jumps to her death. She's sacrificing herself to save others.

Although all MCU movies have been rated PG-13, which means they're each allowed one use of the F-word, Marvel Studios has refrained from including that particular swear word. Other, less severe curse words have been used, leading to Captain America's "Language!" joke in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but never the F-word.
