Kellogg Sales Co. beat a proposed class suit alleging it deceptively markets “veggie” products, as a federal court in California said the word describes meat substitutes rather than implying the fare contains mostly vegetables.

Angela Kennard alleged that Kellogg’s misleads consumers because the main non-water ingredient in Morningstar Farms’ “veggie burgers” and other offerings is grain or oil.

“Veggie” is an ingredient callout that leads consumers to believe the products contain mostly or exclusively vegetables, she said.
