Can browser plugins and extensions affect my connection to Box?
If you are encountering speed, upload, download, or various interface problem with Box it could be caused by a plugin, add-on, or extension that you have installed in your browser. To see if this is the case you can try disabling all plugins, add-ons, or extensions within your browser. Here are steps for various browsers:
Mozilla Firefox:
- Click
in the top right-hand corner of the browser window and choose Add-ons and themesfrom the right column of the menu to open an Add-ons Manager tab in the active browser window.
- Click Extensions to view the installed extensions that add features to Firefox, or click Pluginsto view plugins that add compatibility and functionality.
- Use
to deactivate the extension.
- If you want to delete an extension entirely, click Remove.
- Restart Firefox to complete the process.
Google Chrome:
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click
> Extensions > Manage Extensions.
- If you want to delete an extension entirely, click Remove.
- Use
to deactivate the extension.
Safari:
- Choose Safari > Settings.
- Click the Websites tab to see Plugins.
- Internet plugins installed on your computer appear on the left side of the Plugins panel. Select a plugin to configure its website settings.
- Currently Open Websites in Safari appear on the right side of the plug-ins sheet. Configured Websitesmay also appear here.
- Depending on the plugin, you have different configuration options. For example you can allow or deny the access, define sound settings, block or allow pop-ups and so on.
- If you want to delete a website from the list entirely, click Remove.
