How I Make Money with Affiliate Marketing on Pinterest as a Busy Mom (2024)

Being a busy mom is a full-time job in itself. But what if I told you that you could make some extra money on the side while juggling all your other responsibilities?

That's where affiliate marketing comes in. And, as a busy mom myself, I want to share with you my journey with affiliate marketing on Pinterest, how I made it work for me, and my top tips on how you can make it work for you too.

(This post contains affiliate links and you can read the full disclosure here)

Choosing the Right Affiliate Partners

The first step to affiliate marketing on Pinterest is to choose the right affiliate partners. Finding brands that align with what you pin is crucial. As a busy mom, I found it helpful to choose brands that I already used myself and had a genuine interest in. This made it easier for me to promote their products authentically. Some of the popular affiliate programs that I've worked with include, Impact, ShareASale, and Rakuten Marketing.

Creating a Portfolio of Products

Once you've found your affiliate partners, it's time to create a portfolio of products that you will promote. This portfolio should include a range of products and services that you can promote in your niche. As a busy mom, I found it helpful to create boards on Pinterest that were relevant to my niche, such as making money online specifically with Etsy, creating digital products, and entrepreneurship. And, I added a mixture of both affiliate products and non-affiliate products to these boards.

Creating Eye-Catching Pins

Creating eye-catching pins is essential to promoting your affiliate products on Pinterest. You want to create a pin that stands out on a crowded platform. In the beginning and as a busy mom, I found that Canva was an excellent tool for creating Pinterest pins quickly and easily. When creating pins, it's important to use eye-catching colors, fonts, and images. Don't forget to add your affiliate link to the pin description, too!

These days, now that I'm earning money, I use the app, Tailwind, to create pins within the app using their AI feature, along with the automatic functionality they have to title, write descriptions, tag and schedule all my pins with just a few clicks of a button. This tool alone saves me hours and hours of work each month.

Engaging Your Audience

Engaging your audience is key to making affiliate marketing work on Pinterest. To do this, you need to build trust and rapport with your followers. I found that creating boards and content that was valuable to my followers was a great way to engage with them. For example, I created a board on how to sell digital products on Etsy and shared helpful articles, along with my own (though this is completely optional) and resources that I knew my followers would appreciate.

Tracking Your Progress

Last but not least, tracking your progress is crucial to making affiliate marketing work for you. As a busy mom, I found it helpful to set aside ten minutes each day to track my progress and see what was working and what wasn't. This helped me to make adjustments to my strategy as needed.

Conclusion:

Affiliate marketing on Pinterest can be a lucrative way to make some extra money on the side, even as a busy mom. With the right affiliate partners, a well-curated portfolio of products, engaging content, and eye-catching pins, you can reach your audience and start earning commissions. Remember, it's important to stay authentic, build trust with your followers, and track your progress regularly. With some effort and patience, anyone can make affiliate marketing work for them on Pinterest.
