Of course, the increase in size comes with a higher price. But can you really put a price on high quality sleep if it helps you perform, look and feel your best?

Well, bed sizes vary depending where in the world you are...

But let's stick a little closer to home and just consider super king size beds in the UK and Ireland.

The standard size for a super king bed in the UK and Ireland...

In cm: 180cm x 200cm

In feet: 6' x 6'6"

Well that's kind of subjective, depending on your perspective of size...

A super king size bed has ample space for two adults to sleep in. In fact, you could quite easily fit three adults in a super king bed (no, don't let your mind go there)!

The 180cm width allows for 90cm per person, which is what you would get with a standard single!

90cm is the width of super king pillowcases (90cm x 50cm), meaning that for your pillows to be a good fit for the bed you will need to get the larger pillowcases and pillows.

Super king size beds have are growing in popularity for those that want a little more space and the comfort it offers.

As per the above, a standard UK and Ireland super king bed is 180cm wide (6 feet).

More than enough space for even the largest couple.

The 95% percentile height for a male in the UK is 6' 1", which would leave 5".

You have to go up to the98% percentileto breach the 6' 3" of a super king bed, so if you're one of the 2% then maybe consider a super king size!

Super king #beds sit in third position behind 'king size' and 'double' for couples sharing a bed. Rarely the preferred choice for solo sleepers, unless you are going full on starfish...

Only if you are taller than 6' 3" and are finding that a super king or an emperor bed is too small, should you look for something bespoke. It'll be a lot more expensive to buy the bed itself, but also to dress in high quality bed sheets.

Not so fast though... Before replacing your current double bed or king size bed with a super king, make sure that you have sufficient space in your bedroom. They're BIG!

A bed which is too big in a small room looks a bit odd and doesn't make good use of the space. Conversely, small beds in large rooms can sometimes feel lost and look out of place - so if you have a huge bedroom then maybe consider the super king.

Around 30-35% of your bedroom should be taken up by your bed. For a super king bed, this would mean a bedroom size of around 5.5m x 6m which a wonderfully large bedroom.

Pssst... Keep in mind any other bedroom furniture you need to fit into the room before going bigger!

A walking space of at least 70-80cm around your bed or to the nearest wall, window or bedroom furniture. A standard corridor width in the UK is 90cm, so this should be enough to move around your bedroom freely without it feeling like an assault course!
