Epic Games Store seems to have had a rather successful business year in 2021, with Epic Games' latest published figures boasting about almost 200 million total PC customers up until now, indicating that more than 34 million all-new users have joined the service over the course of the year.

These figures come from the official yearly overview press release published by the Epic Games Store, indicating substantial growth for Epic Games' most prominent business venture yet, outside of Fortnite. According to Epic Games' retrospective of 2021, its concurrent user data peaked at 13.2 million players using the service simultaneously, which further underlines how far the store has gotten since its release.

Of course, a substantial number of Epic Games Store users come due to the company's insistence on showering them with free games. This practice is set to continue, as Epic Games Store will keep giving away games through 2022. With millions upon millions of active users coming in to claim free games, support Epic-funded projects such as Darkest Dungeon 2, and enjoy free discount coupons among a variety of other things, it's not hard to imagine that Epic Games Store is bound to keep getting more popular in the future.

It's worth pointing out that users aren't just making good use of Epic Games' free services and game giveaways, either. According to the very same overview, users have spent $840 million on the Epic Games Store, with $300 million going towards third-party games hosted on the Store. The $300 million figure also does not include coupon expenditures, Epic's developer funding, or other assorted promotions.

Since Epic Games' plans for free games in February have already been announced, it's clear that the company aims to underline its biggest draws even further over the course of 2022. In fact, players that had claimed all 89 games that had been given away in 2021 got $2,120 in value at no charge whatsoever, which is particularly helpful when it comes to dispelling whatever skepticism may have been present about the Epic Games Store beforehand.

Of course, Epic Games Store has a lot more going for it than just the free games. Having started off 2022 with a Tomb Raider giveaway, Epic Games Store will play host to a number of blockbuster releases over the year. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Saints' Row, SIFU, Dying Light 2, Forspoken, and STALKER 2 are just some of the titles that will launch on EGS in 2022. Some of these games will also launch on Steam simultaneously, but it's not hard to imagine that Epic Games Store will continue to grow as time goes on.
