Himelissa9,
Yes, you can modify the withholding amount by editing the paycheck.
Here are the steps:
- On the left panel click Payroll, and then click the Employees tab.
- Click the employee's name and select View paycheck List.
- Click the Net Pay link and click the Edit link located at the bottom.
- Click theEmployee Taxes drop-down arrow to expand, and then edit theFederal Income Tax amount.
- Click OK.
Note:QuickBooks Online calculates federal income tax withholding in accordance with IRS Publication 15 (Circular E), Employer's Tax Guide.

Thank you for your response. Can we set it to be Zero on every single paycheck instead of putting zero every time we process payroll?

Can we modify a tax withholding amount on a payroll check in the online QuickBooks program?
Hello I am coming from QB Desktop. On Desktop I was able to adjust my withholdings once and it would stick on every paycheck after that.
Now I have to do it every time. It doesn't seem like filling out exemptions is the way to do this correctly. I pay a regular salary and want to make an amount of withholding of my choosing default.
Can this be done?

Can we modify a tax withholding amount on a payroll check in the online QuickBooks program?
I am coming from quickbooks desktop. I used to be able to easily change my withholdings to any value and it would save it form my next paycheck.
I can no longer find a way to do this. An exemption seems a bit odd for this situation.
How can I adjust my withholding to a specific value and keep it that way. This should be possible.
Please help!

Thank you for your response.
I am trying to pay less withholding. I was paying in less before, now it auto-calculates more withholding and forces me to manually input on each check to change it.
How can I save the amount that I input so it saves the amount for every check? This is a huge step backwards from Desktop if not possible.
Thank you!

Thank you for getting back to us, @MyBuddy.
Allow me to provide information about how QuickBooks calculates federal withholdings.
QuickBooks automatically calculates federal withholdings depending on the information entered on the employee's W-4. If you want to adjust the withholding amounts, you'll need to go through each paycheck. Here's how:
- ClickPayrollfrom the left menu, then selectEmployees.
- Select the employee from the list and clickView paycheck List.
- Choose theNet Paylink and click theEditlink located at the bottom.
- Click theEmployee Taxesdrop-down arrow to expand, and then edit theFederal Income Taxamount.
- SelectOK.
If you're having issues following the steps, I recommend contacting ourQuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can further check on your account and help you adjust the federal withholding.
You might want torun payroll reportsin QuickBooks Online. This will help you view helpful information about your business and employees.
Please let me know if you need clarification about this, or there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be standing by for your response, @MyBuddy.

Can we modify a tax withholding amount on a payroll check in the online QuickBooks program?
So to sum it up...
Quick-books Online does not have the simple and effective functionality that the desktop version has and I will need to continue to do things the ridiculous way that I am now.
I don't even get the classic "I will forward this on to the developers?"
You guys try way to hard to look like you are offering a solution, just tell it like it is, you will at least earn respect for yourself.
Sorry for the frustration here, but I am very capable with software and the transition to the online version has been nothing short of stressful. I would have expected a better experience being that the company is shoving us all into this subscription model. Forcing negative change on customers is something you can only do when you are not being held accountable. Signs of the times.
