The former home of William Faulkner, Rowan Oak sits on 29 acres and includes a beautiful forested area known as Bailey’s Woods. The stunning grounds are free to explore and make a lovely picnic spot.

Over the course of this 33-mile route, you’ll find plenty of hills, lots of twists and turns, and expansive wooded areas. Begin the scenic drive in Columbia, where you’ll take Highway 98 to Highway 587 all the way to Monticello. Along the way, you can stop at Red Bluff and take in the breathtaking views from atop the vast formation.

Touring the entire homestead will cost $10 per person, which is extremely reasonable when you consider you’re travelling back in time.
